A girl who sees the colors in people’s hearts joins a group with two other people.. Naoko Yamada’s fifth feature film.. I loved this film. There was a certain warmth about her – the warmth that Totsuko brought through her honest confessions, the warmth that lies in new friendships, the warmth of forgiveness and acceptance, the warmth of spending time with loved ones away from the turmoil of life, and the warmth of creating art. I think of Totsuko’s prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to choose life, and maybe that’s what it’s for.” The best part is that just like Totsuko’s colorful free spirit, we too somehow find within ourselves the serenity, courage, and wisdom to walk through it.
